My Optiplex 3020 SFF Sleeper includes a secondary 2TB HDD, but Steam doesn't add it to the SteamLibrary. The 2TB HDD uses ext4 formatting and is reachable via the file manager without problems. I checked forums for Ubuntu-based systems like Linux Mint and AskUbuntu, but each had unique issues or error codes. I’m unsure why this is happening, though it seems unrelated to the partition’s format. Just in case, here are the details:
- i5-4590 processor
- 2x8GB DDR3 1600 MHz memory
- Nvidia Quadro P620 graphics card
- 240GB Kingston SATA SSD
- 2TB WD Green HDD (the drive I want to add the SteamLibrary to)
Also, here’s the neofetch information.

You set up Steam by downloading it from the AppCenter and then removing it. After that, use the deb file from the provided link. If your system lacks OOBE support, install gdebi first.

Ubuntu relies on Snaps and many creators haven’t adopted them. Canonical keeps releasing them despite requests from developers. For other issues in the AppCenter, look at the official project page to find supported options and reinstall accordingly. If Flatpak is involved, you’ll need another software center for a GUI. https://flatpak.org/setup/Ubuntu Permissions for Snap and Flatpak can be adjusted—Snap settings are in the menu, while Flatpak might require Flatseal. A frequent problem is storage access. Steam also faces similar challenges as a Snap, and Valve advises against using it, possibly adding warnings in the future.
