Hello, I gave my i7 920 to my brother today. His Windows setup isn’t working on my machine—just a blinking cursor appears. I attempted to reinstall Windows 10, but it only shows the Windows logo with no progress. Now I’m trying to install Windows 7, but it triggers a blue screen saying PAGE_FAULT_IN_UNPAGED_AREA. I’m unsure what to do next. I’ve also tried reinstalling Windows 7 again, but it only displays the 'starting windows' screen without the logo.

Check if you're using a disc or USB drive and whether you cleared the storage before trying to reinstall.

Format the USB flash drive using FAT32 format before creating a bootable drive with Microsoft's own utility. Download the appropriate tool from the provided links for Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.

You're facing issues with a USB drive and Windows not allowing access to wipe it.

You can clear the drive from the Windows install menu during startup on a USB. Are you experiencing issues connecting to the USB or installing Windows afterward?

Apologies for the delay—I didn’t catch your reply. It was saved as ntfs and I used rufus, so I’ll attempt your request now.

Did you try Rufus? Make sure the .ISO file was generated properly. I've experienced problems where a bootable .ISO doesn't work. Also, I expect the BIOS/UEFI partition settings you choose in Rufus to be correct. Partition type: NTFS (or FAT32 if NTFS isn't compatible). Check the box that indicates it's bootable.

I used Rufus and Microsoft, suggesting the ISO could be faulty since the attached file shows the current behavior.

You can download a bootable .ISO file from the Microsoft site for Windows 10. Since you're using an older CPU and motherboard, the process might not work as expected. Try pairing it with the Rufus settings I previously suggested, but results aren't guaranteed.
