Hello. I set up Linux Ubuntu on another machine for home server use. I connected an NTFS storage device containing movies and TV shows. It works well locally, but I needed to share it over the network. After installing Samba and mapping it from my main PC, the issue arose: restarting the server makes the network drive unavailable, showing an error. It seems the drive doesn’t initialize properly, though I can access it manually via TeamViewer. Is there a way to fix this so the drive boots up automatically?

Check if samba and the drive are configured to begin automatically. You mentioned you could add a delay to samba, as delays sometimes prevent files from starting before the drive is ready, which can lead to problems.

I don’t understand much. It seems Samba starts on its own since you just need to access the drive for remapping. I’m not sure about the drive mounting process.

The system is setting up the drive automatically; I checked if it was saved to fstab.

Linux now supports NTFS natively. This feature has been available for about a year or so.

No, the drive does not mount automatically through fstab.

It seems like you've been away from the fstab file for quite some time.

I considered including that drive in fstab. It seems the GUI mounting occurs once the Samba server starts.

I attempted to include it in fstab, but once the system restarted, the drive vanished completely. It seems I might have made a mistake. Since I haven’t used this in several years, the guides I found didn’t match up well.

Apologies for the inconvenience. Some users suggested adding a delay to the Samba service. Would you like instructions on how to implement that? It would help ensure both network and storage are ready.
