Unable to connect to Wi-Fi using a Wi-Fi dongle! Need assistance.
Hey there, so I've been using this Wi-Fi dongle (Edimax AC600) for about 6 to 7 years. Recently, I stopped plugging in my PC and now I'm trying to get it working again. The main issues are: I can't click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar, the network status page doesn't show anything, and clicking 'show available networks' doesn't help either. I've tried updating the driver through Device Manager and using the setup file, but nothing works. I deleted the driver, ran netsh winsock reset in Command Prompt, and even uninstalled the device and restarted my computer—still no luck. The device info says it's fine, but I'm stuck. Any suggestions or solutions you could suggest? Thanks a lot!
He ran into the same problem with his gaming laptop, which I haven’t seen in person (he’s far away). I was thinking about doing a reinstall, but first I’d try USB tethering on your phone to check if it works. It’s essentially another WLAN NIC that behaves like your USB one. If that fails too, there might be a Windows root issue with WLAN—run chkdsk to see if any files are corrupted.
