I've built a few projects in the last four years, but I'm still getting comfortable with this process since I don't do it often. Just finished a new build and got excited, everything worked fine so far. But when the main screen loaded with all the details, I tried entering BIOS to check temperatures before starting Windows 11. Pressing F1 didn’t work—it stayed on the same screen. When I turned it on, it didn’t ask for F1 or the Delete key at the bottom to enter BIOS. Maybe this feature appears only after Windows 11 is installed? I’m using just a wireless keyboard right now, but it still shows up with the mouse and other info. Do you have another method to access BIOS? What might be wrong with my setup? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Which mouse are you employing? Many premium gaming mice appear as keyboards in the BIOS due to their macro features, meaning your keyboard might go unnoticed. If this happens, disconnect the mouse and check if the issue persists after restarting.

I turned off the mouse switch and checked—nothing changed. It’s not a premium keyboard or mouse. I bought a wireless model on Amazon for convenience. My wife uses the same one and it functions properly, so I went ahead and got one for myself. I tried connecting a different USB port on the motherboard, but it didn’t help. The device has a full charge, and it works fine when plugged into my desktop PC as well.

If you hit that barrier, it means your KB isn’t functioning. Insert a wired KB and try again.

It seems there could still be a problem even though it appears to function with the mouse. The keyboard and mouse both operate on my current PC. My next step will be to ask someone for a keyboard or purchase one on Amazon to test.

Wireless connections often cause problems when you run out of a 2.4GHz dongle. It works fine without an operating system, but it doesn’t function properly on other systems—especially Bluetooth devices won’t connect either.

Noted. Reached out to a contact who may have a wired keyboard, but it's tough to locate these days since wireless is so handy.

I had a used Dell lying around, it’s been out of my hands for more than a year, but I finally got rid of it a few weeks back. Now I’m looking for it again!

I store a collection of outdated parts for fixing issues: a wired Dell KB+M, a GT710, an old CX600 power supply, and an AMD Wraith cooler. I just need a portable monitor.
