Unable to adjust refresh rate beyond 85Hz.
Hi there, I experienced a problem with my dual monitors not working properly, so I considered upgrading to an ultrawide setup. I chose the Asus ROG Strix XG349C because it supports IPS panels and can be overclocked to 180Hz. I found a discounted model on Amazon ReNew. Although my current system struggles with high-end AAA titles, I’m currently limited to around 85Hz. I’m wondering if this is due to the lack of support for the newer 7 Series Nvidia GPUs.
Current configuration: Antec 900 case, MSI Z87-G45, Intel Z87, i5-4670K (3.4GHz), MSI GTX N770 TF 4GD5/OC, G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB (2x4GB), DDR3 1600, running Windows 10 (64bit).
I changed the DisplayPort cable to the one included, but it didn’t help. I also adjusted the monitor settings to DisplayPort 1.4 and turned off ELMB, yet nothing worked. I attempted to update the video drivers via Nvidia GeForce Experience, but it failed. Last night I removed all Nvidia drivers and discovered no Windows 10 driver available for my card on their support site.
I realize I might need to build a new system to fully utilize this monitor, but I want to double-check if I missed any settings or compatibility issues. Also, I need to confirm whether the 3440 x 1440 resolution claim is accurate—maybe it’s not that high. If that’s the case, I could consider returning it.
