I processed several real systems with mbr2gpt smoothly, even those with a single partition where the boot partition was relocated into the system partition. Still, the approach depends on your setup. Why does legacy boot feel slower—just three seconds longer to start?
I verified with MBR2GPT /validate that it satisfies the criteria, then applied MBR2GPT /convert to switch to GPT partition. However, it fails to boot in both legacy and UEFI modes—preferably UEFI for better over 2 TB support and secure boot capabilities.
This restriction applies only to the boot drive. If your boot drive is under 2TB, you can enable legacy boot and use other drives (except boot) larger than 2TB with a GPT partition table. Secure boot functionality may vary depending on hardware. There are no significant advantages to using it.
