Hi everyone. I’m experiencing a somewhat unusual issue with a recent update of Run8, a railroad simulator, on my Windows 11 system. When connected via wireless, everything functions properly. However, when using a wired internet connection, all UDP traffic gets blocked after about 5 to 10 seconds. This happens with different network cards, including Intell NICs and Realtek, and it seems to be linked to the same switches and router as my wired setup. I’m not sure if Windows Defender or a firewall is involved, since the problem persists even when those are disabled. Also, I assume the wireless traffic would follow the same firewall rules as the wired one, and I’ve confirmed that Windows lists both connections as my domain network. I’ve checked for driver updates and the wired NICs are installed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What network hardware models are available? Certain managed devices, like UniFI, allow you to restrict or prevent multicast traffic. Your UDP data might be sent in a multicast format instead of a single destination address.

I've checked with an Intel I2219-V and I211 wired ethernet setup, along with an Intel Wireless-AC 9560. The WAP operates as a Unifi WAP-AC-Pro, controlled from my server via Unifi tools. Both the WAP and PC connections pass through identical switches and a Sonicwall TZ300 router. Only the WAP is actively managed.

In the updated interface, look for multicast options. There are various configurations connected to it such as "Multicast Enhancement" and "Multicast broadcast control". I think one of these might be the issue, especially with your UniFI hardware.

I will proceed, yet why does the wireless function despite being the sole device connected to the Unifi hardware?
