Ubuntu video becomes a looping repetition
I'm experiencing crashes while watching videos in VLC. Codecs are installed, Flash is disabled in Chromium, yet the problem persists. After turning off Flash, it stopped happening during YouTube playback, but now it's recurring with local files. I attempted to upload a video, but my connection was poor and it kept looping. The file 20200702_004025.mp4 is affected.
I faced a similar issue a few years back on Kubuntu, and in the end, fixing it was easier once a friend recommended replacing the RAM. Could be worth considering.
It's an Asus transformer mini designed for laptops, but I can't use it as a dual-purpose device.
It appears the video isn't playing with VLC, but I'm not sure if it's limited to VLC or affects other players too. Could you share your Ubuntu version and the VLC version you're using?
Have you attempted reinstalling VLC via Snap? It seems like network streaming is causing issues, while local playback works fine. It might be a version-specific problem, perhaps with 20.04. I’d suggest recreating the issue on 18.04.4 LTS to see if it persists.
If other options don’t work, I’d recommend removing VLC first, then installing Snapd and finally adding VLC via Snap. I’m open to any quick solution you might have.
