This adjustment won’t alter your desktop setup in Unity. You’ve already customized it to fit screen size and control placement, making it functional outside as well. While the laptop version feels smaller, it’s still an issue, and the workspace problem remains unchanged.
It takes away the unity feature but Xorg performs significantly better. I'm unsure if it will resolve the issue, but it seems to work more effectively. If you're still facing problems, consider trying KDE.
Sorry, I won't be changing the desktop setup. Trying out Gnome was really challenging. I had to configure reFind on OS X and GRUB, and now I'm struggling to restore my trackpad preferences in Unity because Gnome altered everything, even though I installed it next to Unity without modifying any settings.
I can set up xorg and test it, but I won’t delete Unity. If it doesn’t work, I need to be able to switch back to Unity from the login screen. Would it be okay if I run `sudo apt-get install xorg` and then try the scaling there?
I'm not sure, but you could try the Linux Discord server (invite code available at discord.gg/discord-linux) and ask there since they'd have more details. Also, it seems managing workspace from the source code is tougher than I expected. I don't have much experience fixing this yet, but the Linux Discord team should know. Good luck!
