Ubuntu issues and problems
I'm having trouble getting Linux to work, so I'm using Windows instead. Hehe—looks like I'm making a hack of it... nice!
I don’t recall the chipset, but it really matters without an NVIDIA driver. It’s unlikely the card will work without one. They say it’s Hugh Sierra for the latest compatible model, but after that it stops being supported. So unless we switch to High Sierra, we probably won’t be able to use the NVIDIA features.
I verified the chipset is set to Q35 by default and it hasn't been modified, it remains Q35.
The chipset offers simulated hardware capabilities. The Q35 differs by featuring a virtualized PCI_e port. This port directs your PCI_e device(s) when they're routed through. Beyond basic functionality, it seems to be approaching a hardware constraint. Hardware pass-through in laptops isn't widely adopted, and attempting to launch the VM often results in an error. Your previous report mentioned the OS failing to load completely.
Um,no it boots and works check out screenshots up in one of the messages. Just thus card although recognized as a PCIe device so passthrough is successful but doesn’t work because it’s not supported by this version of macOS and no drivers from nvidia. High Sierra only and nothing further
It seems we're dealing with two possible issues: the VM failing to start when connecting the PCI_e device, or driver support not appearing despite pass-through working. You mentioned focusing on the first scenario but are unsure which one applies.
