Hi, I’m looking forward to getting to it today. Dual boot is functioning thanks to Sauron’s assistance, so I’ve been using Win10 for work recently. I’ll get back to you soon. I’ve already looked through the drivers in the Ubuntu menu and noticed several (such as 6) that appeared to be graphics drivers. I’m curious about how integrated versus dedicated graphics will work in Ubuntu, but it seems to rely on the BIOS settings. I’ll send you all the details as soon as possible, just like you asked. The laptop is new—Lenovo Legion 15 AMD version, 4800h + 1650 ti. It was probably released around 1-1.5 years ago, but I’ll share all the necessary info right away. Thanks a lot for your help! Have a great day, chris!

Hello, I’m finally working on fixing the Ubuntu issue again today. The machine is a Lenovo Legion 15ARH05 82B5009NGE. I wasn’t able to locate the precise launch date for this model in the Lenovo Legion AMD series, but it seems to have been released roughly 1.2 years ago or announced about 1.5 years back. That makes sense because the rumored paper versions (1660Ti and RTX 2060) were supposed to hit the market in mid-2020, which I didn’t see when I bought mine in the summer.

The laptop features a 15.6-inch 144Hz 1080p screen (the cheaper 120Hz model isn’t available, possibly because it’s the default for drivers and limits brightness adjustments). It comes with a Ryzen 4800H, GTX 1650 Ti, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, and storage options: 1 TB NVME in the main slot (partitioned for Ubuntu separately and Linux), plus an additional 1 TB NVME in the secondary slot.

Running ‘uname -a’ showed: “Linux Chris-Laptop 5.8.0.-44-generic #50~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Feb 10 21:07:30 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux”. This helped. I found several threads from about a year ago onward where users shared similar problems, especially in Q3 2020 when stability was an issue.

The trackpad isn’t working, and I’ve already looked into a Synaptics driver from May 2020—probably not the latest version. I haven’t seen any updates to display brightness settings. If you could explain how Ubuntu updates drivers, I’ll wait patiently until the next release. I remember the OS was free, so I don’t want to seem ungrateful.

Thanks for your time, Chris!
