Have you tried this setup before? It's unclear if 4GB of RAM would be sufficient for everyday tasks like browsing and watching videos.

Recently, I've observed that the recommended storage size for most web browsers is typically around 2GB on a 32-bit system and 3GB on a 64-bit system, even on Linux.

You can opt for Lubuntu or Xubuntu, which require fewer resources. Avoid Chrome on systems with only 4GB of RAM since it uses a lot of memory.

I keep imagining creating my own toolkit that works seamlessly with GTK and QT/QML, while being more efficient, following the same approach as Budgie and its parent distribution Solus.

Ubuntu with Gnome tends to be quite heavy, but you won't run into issues. If you need something lighter, Kubuntu uses about 500MB less RAM.

After updating Budgie to QT, we will determine the winner.

He’ll likely be managing an older Slack version, using an ASCII art viewer to stream YouTube in a 1024x768 window. Tys 2 through 6 will be turned off to conserve memory, and PS1 will be limited to just “>” since anything beyond that feels like a luxury.

Perhaps I'll try it out once things settle down, without disabling any terminals except TTY7. I'll use the standard drivers for whatever I decide to use then—likely either an Intel iGPU or an AMD dGPU. I'm planning to run a Gamers Nexus video at 1080p at 60Hz on a Samsung panel that's probably 1200p and 60Hz. (I still need to fix the one I received for free.) Edit: Now I grasped what you were referring to, @Ralphred.

Hey, everything will be okay—just make sure you install the right swap partition. Skip the 512M stuff, focus on having enough RAM (1 to 2x).
