For some odd reason, at around 11 PM, ubisoft resurrected the servers for Splinter Cell: Blacklist, that was shutdown back in October of 2022. AFAIK, all of the online services work just fine, and there are already multiplayer matches going. Because this story is so fresh, Ubisoft probably doesn't know what's happening. I'll attach a screenshot of a lobby (not mine!). Incidentally, there is an outage happening for "community features in-game" so maybe it has something to do with this? EDIT: Can confirm for myself it works. If i can i'll get ya posted on what will happen next
Ubisoft shuts down the servers for several outdated titles. "Fuck you, Ubisoft!" (They turn the servers back up again). "Fuck you, Ubisoft!"
Ubisoft faces financial difficulties because of poor management, leading them to shut down servers in an attempt to cut costs. They seem likely to keep releasing numerous games annually, which represents a significant loss of resources, effort, and opportunity. It's also worth noting that today's Ubisoft lacks originality and often follows trends rather than creating fresh ideas. I hope Assassin's Creed Mirage succeeds and they develop more meaningful titles instead of imitating others. I'm disappointed the Rainbow Six Patriots was canceled—it seemed like a strong project. It's time to conclude the Far Cry series if they can't move forward creatively.
I strongly favor Breakpoint—it appears and performs much better, though long-range accuracy is questionable. The narrative feels a bit silly and the pacing isn’t great, but I enjoy the stealth elements and shooting mechanics. They let you skip most of the leveling content, remove most drones, and keep only essential UI, making it a solid third-person shooter. It seems most critics who disliked it only played the standard version and dismissed it as RPG fluff (they did the same in the latest AC titles, though you can’t disable those features).
I haven’t tried those yet, but I own them anyway. I liked the main plots of Odyssey and Valhalla because of the characters (Kassandra and fem Eivor), though the core game problems limit how often I return. I’m hoping Origins runs smoothly on my ARC card now—I was halfway through it. It’s one of the best reboots, which is funny since it’s also the first, and you’d expect more improvements. The farthest I’ve played is Unity; after fixing technical issues with both patches and modern hardware, it feels solid. And the prequel version where you play as a Templar guy, I think I managed to get through before being distracted by other titles.
