Ubisoft's games rank as the second most popular on PC
The PC contributed 23 percent to Ubisoft's revenue this quarter, surpassing only the PlayStation 4 at 27 percent. Xbox One accounted for 11 percent, while Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 each made up less than a third. The Wii U trailed with just three percent, and mobile/accessories made up the remaining 14 percent. This rise to 23 percent marks a significant jump from the 14 percent achieved last year.
This is actually good news. It means it is costly for Ubisoft to ignore the PC market and that producing a quality product would be worthwhile to avoid the annoying wrath of PC gamers. We should see some positive benefits from this, but now it's Ubisofts move.
However, many people thought Ubisoft claimed that PC gaming involves pirates.
It highlights how, even with poor quality ports, demand remains strong and large volumes are purchased. There’s little motivation for developers to create PC-optimized titles since their products sell well regardless.
And still they haven't resolved Far Cry 4's field-of-view adjustment. (I'm not referring to missing features in pirated versions) Regardless of sales rankings, they'll keep pushing it until demand drops. I do hope Steam is offering refunds, or perhaps Ubisoft will halt its Steam releases if their next big AAA title performs exceptionally well—something they've done before, given their history.
