Ubisoft lacks the skills to preserve their existence
I’ll begin by stating that I’m not facing any issues with Ubisoft. They seem to be the smaller of the major studios. Uplay is the only program I’m ready to set up on my PC (which is why I stick to Battlefield on Xbox, even though FPS with a controller is tricky). They consistently introduce similar bugs across many titles over the years, without any updates in sight. Honestly, it’s been years. Most of Ubisoft’s single-player games require installation on the system drive. If you have an SSD as your main drive and an HDD for your game collection? You’re not playing Assassin’s Creed. I own AS3, AS4, and bought Origins (which I returned), plus FarCry 3, Blood Dragon, and Watch Dogs. According to their support, my monitor (2560x1080, 75Hz) needs replacing because it’s causing crashes in games. Assassin’s Creed 3 launched back in 2012; Origins from 2017 still has the same issue, and seeing how similar Odyssey looks, I’m sure it’ll be the same problem. The forums are packed with people reporting identical issues: https://www.reddit.com/r/assassinscreed/...g_ubisoft/ https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/f...571781045/ And many others. In short, I own several games that won’t run properly on my main PC except on my laptop (which has a standard screen and just one SSD). That version gives me a much better experience. Most online games work smoothly for me, while Siege and For Honor run perfectly from my E: drive at 21:9 with 75fps. This is essentially a complaint, but if anyone has a fix I’d really appreciate it.
Absolutely agreeing completely, it’s like they keep recycling the same ideas until nothing feels fresh anymore. I went ahead and pre-ordered AC 1 because it was brand new and stood out at the time. The AC2 was decent but lacked originality, and now everything feels generic. The mechanics are essentially repeating the same missions, just with a different twist. It’s frustrating, especially since things have only gotten worse. Up until the third update I really loved it—it was unlike anything else. Now the storyline feels flat, and I’m worried about even the fourth one. UBI is great at making cool trailers, but they’re reusing old mechanics on a factory line. I’m worried they’re taking it too far.
When completed in co-op it seems like a great experience. It's more enjoyable than fc4, though all the tasks are quite alike.
They didn't mean what they said. Most 75Hz displays are overclocked 60Hz panels—some might even be native—but very few come with a built-in rr. What they suggest is reducing the rr to 60 if you have the panel's OC capability to see if it breaks the game. My girlfriend never had those problems when I upgraded her monitor to 75, but who knows?
These issues can become extremely difficult to resolve because the software has been constantly updated over a long period. The bug may be deeply embedded, making it hard for many systems to operate correctly. Fixing it often requires careful programming knowledge. So far, the installation on other storage devices hasn’t caused problems for me. This isn’t a complete solution, and reaching out to Ubisoft support hasn’t helped either. I’m just trying to clarify things you might not be aware of when discussing coding challenges or overlooking important details.
