I recently started using Uplay and I’ve been revisiting Assassin’s Creed, purchasing several titles. I’m attempting to download Black Flag when my progress in Syndicate is interrupted by the download stalling. I understand that Steam offers a feature permitting downloads during gameplay, but I haven't located a similar option within Uplay’s settings. Does anyone know if it’s feasible for Uplay to initiate a game download while simultaneously playing another title? My searches online have yielded no relevant results.

You can manually activate a PAUSE feature, however, there isn’t an automatic function available within Uplay. Therefore, if you wish to play Syndicate (which is quite dated), you won't need to worry about the background download of Battlefield impacting your gameplay. Alternatively, click “install” just before going to sleep and it will finish when you wake up the following morning – a straightforward solution!

Tom Tancredi:

You can manually activate a PAUSE feature, however, there isn’t currently an AUTOMATIC setting within Uplay. Therefore, if you wish to play Syndicate (a remarkably dated title), you shouldn’t experience any interruptions due to the concurrent download of Battlefield. Alternatively, initiate the ‘install’ process just before sleep and it will complete upon your awakening, eliminating any issues!

Initially, the core issue is that he desires a background download, but Uplay restricts this functionality. The system PAUSES automatically whenever another Ubisoft game is initiated and RESUMES when that game concludes. Asserting that Uplay lacks an automatic option is inaccurate, as the only available choice during gameplay is indeed the automated pause. There’s no provision for downloading while in operation.

Secondly, he was referring to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (a contemporary title, not the original ‘Syndicate’ game—please update the reference!).

Finally, pre-sleep downloads might be feasible, but many would prefer to conserve energy by preventing their computers from running unnecessarily once the download is finished, leading them to utilize background downloading while playing.

I clicked "resume," but it’s still not downloading. The speed is 0 bytes per second. I double-clicked repeatedly, but it isn’t functioning.

I encountered a particular problem regarding this. I was unable to install games onto my storage device as the transfer rate would initially function correctly… then plummet to 0 bytes per second. The method that resolved this for me was to reformat the drive and reinstall. This should fix the issue, provided you don’t have other external factors impacting your only drive.

Following a revival of this discussion, here’s my solution for enabling Uplay downloads during gameplay: Initiate the update, begin playing the game and observe it freeze, then cancel the update. Return to the download section (as the update button won't function within the game tab), and restart the download. And that’s it—Uplay will continue downloading while “uplay” is running.
