I experienced a really frustrating experience with my new Cloud Gateway Max router. I intended to set up a WireGuard VPN so devices on my local network could be accessed via my own VPN server with a static IP address. However, during testing, I only achieved about 200/250 Mbps through the VPN client on the router. Is the CPU performance of the UCG-Max actually problematic, or is there something I'm doing incorrectly? Are there others who have this device? I've tested both my personal VPN server and MullvadVPN, which consistently provided around 800/900 Mbps when using my PC as a client. Without the VPN, I was seeing roughly 1010/1050 Mbps going through the gateway to the internet.

VPN typically adds considerable cost to hardware, around 200-250 for the UCG-Max (Cortex A53). For faster performance, consider upgrading to a UDM-Pro or UDM-SE (Cortex A57). Some people suggest the NanoPi R6C or R6S. You can find CPU benchmark results on OpenWrt wiki while using WireGuard. https://forum.openwrt.org/t/a-wireguard-...-db/187586 - https://github.com/cyyself/wg-bench
