Typical temperatures for 7700k OC to 4.8?
Would these be typical temperatures for your 7700k at 4.8? The maximum temperature is what worries me the most. I’m not sure if that’s normal. Also, with a cool master hyper 212 evo, would I need a more powerful cooler to reach 5.0 MHz?
my 7700k runs at 4.8ghz with 1.225v, matching your setup. idle temperatures are in the mid-30s, similar to yours. load temps during gaming and benchmarking sit in the 70s to 80s. the cooler i use is the corsair h115i. i set the pump speed to 3100 and fan speed around 1100rpm while gaming. your temperatures seem okay.
This depends on the circumstances. Are these maximum temperatures experienced during regular use or when subjected to stress from demanding video games or Adobe tasks. Or are they results from a stress test? I’m not sure what voltage your CPU is set to for these clocks, but it’s likely close to 1.4 volts.
I’m unsure if the high overclock and the voltage needed to reach these speeds will be manageable by the cooler. If these temperatures are due to stress testing for peak heat output, you should be okay. However, if they result from only light tasks that cause slight warming, a better cooler would be necessary. For such a high overclock, I’d suggest the Kraken X62 rev. 2.0.
Regarding your overclocking, are you actually stress testing to verify stability with your current settings? Sometimes standard CPU stress tests aren’t sufficient—they might pass but fail under real-world video game load. My preferred choice for checking both GPU and CPU stability is Ghost Recon Wildlands; it will crash immediately or after a short period if stability issues arise. I plan to run the game for an hour, especially with maximum graphics settings, to ensure your overclocks remain stable.
The results vary. These temperatures might apply to regular use or to stress from demanding games or intensive tasks. Or they could come from a stress test. I’m unsure about the exact voltage setting for your CPU, but it seems close to 1.4 volts. If you’re overclocking at that level with a voltage similar to what you expect, it might be too much for the cooler. If these are only from light tasks, a better cooler would suit you. Sometimes standard stress tests aren’t enough—they can pass but fail under real load. My top pick for checking both GPU and CPU is Ghost Recon Wildlands; it will crash or freeze quickly if stability issues arise. I’ll run it for an hour with maximum graphics to see how the CPU handles it. If it survives, your overclocks should be stable. The peak temps I saw after about four hours of playing PUGB were around 50-70 degrees, with spikes up to 75 degrees. Core temperatures are usually between 60 and 70 degrees when idle. I haven’t adjusted the voltage yet, but I think around 1.295 is reasonable. Would that be acceptable or should you increase it? I ran a stress test using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility for five minutes—loads reached 98-100% across all cores, with temperatures fluctuating between 61 and 75 degrees. Most times the temps stayed in the mid to high 60s. This is my first CPU overclock, so I’m just checking everything is stable.
