Hello, I'm exploring upgrading my PC's RAM and came across ECC dimm modules. Both my motherboard (B550 chipset) and CPU (3900x) are compatible with ECC, but the various types (LRdimm, Udimm, etc.) are confusing me. I'm mainly wondering if these terms refer to the same thing and whether they can work together. Since speed isn't a major concern, I usually boost my overclock by about 200-300 MHz and a few volts. The main reason for considering ECC is its lower cost compared to regular DDR4, particularly for the capacities I'm targeting (64 GB in a 32x2 package).

Only certain options will function with your setup. Usually the inexpensive choices don’t fit your system.

They don't match. Ryzen processors require UDIMMs or unbuffered memory, and it's generally more costly to use ECC options compared to standard memory or ECC RDIMMs that fit your system.
