Two new M.2 SSDs are not working together when they're plugged into a fresh Lenovo LOQ16. Is this happening to you too?
Hi there! I've been trying to add more space to my laptop by buying a Kingston KC3000 2TB M2 SSD and also a Lexar NM790 4TB drive. After installing everything on the first boot, all the devices looked good in the software. I formatted them as NTFS, then ran a stress test called CrystalDiskMark. The first time it worked fine with good numbers. But on my second run, every write number showed up as zero. On the third try, ALL the values were zero. Then suddenly, during a fourth run, I got crazy high numbers like 40,000+. When I checked Disk Management, the SSDs showed up as "RAW". A few minutes later, the drives disappeared completely. The problem keeps happening. What have I tried so far? Try using the OS drive in the second slot - that works perfectly! Check if the BIOS sees both Kingston and Lexar drives - it does. Reseat and clean the drives - that didn't help much at all. Check for errors on the disks - there are no errors found. What can I do now? Thank you for your advice!
Hi, first check if you have the newest BIOS version for your laptop model. First, make sure you are running the latest BIOS update by going here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/...am...river-list Then after that, try to run a Windows update and also verify the M2 driver is properly installed. You can download the driver from the website just to be sure. After this step, you might want to download mini partition wizard https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-par...nager.html so you can manage your partitions. I hope this helps you.
