Two monitors powered by a single video card on Windows 11 Home
Hi everyone...
I upgraded a desktop for my friend and added a video card instead of using the video chip on her older motherboard. The card I installed is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 D6 WINDFORCE OC 4G (rev 2).
When she arrived to collect it, just before she left, she mentioned she uses two monitors. Before I opened her computer, there were already two monitor inputs installed. One was a display port, and the other was a VGA port.
I’m familiar with going to System, Display, and Multiple Displays for setup.
Here’s my question:
During the upgrade, I connected my one monitor to the display port on the Nvidia card. The card also has HDMI ports.
I found this VGA to HDMI adapter on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SW9JI9A?ref...title&th=1
Can I connect both monitors to the single Nvidia video card? - one into the display port and the other (using the adapter) into a HDMI port?
She lives in another state, so I can’t test it myself. She picked up the desktop and is heading home now.
Will this work?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
The monitors listed are not specified in detail, but they are described as having certain input requirements.
I don’t have the exact make and model details, but I’m sure they’re from an older time.
I understand that the first monitor uses a VGA cable and the second uses a display port cable.
She’ll be away for a few days, so I can request the names and models from her later.
I’m wondering if a single video card can power two monitors connected to it—something I’ve never dealt with before.
Appreciate your assistance.
Yes, present GPUs are capable of supporting several monitors. I'm using a GTX 1660 Ti with three monitors at 1920x1080 resolution.
Thank you for your prompt reply. I think I'll send the adapter I purchased and explain how to set up two monitors, then observe the results. Appreciate your assistance.
