Two graphics cards paired together and two monitors displayed simultaneously.
Hello, I’d like to set up dual screens with different resolutions and refresh rates. My current monitor is 1080p at 60Hz, while the new one will be 1440p at 144Hz. I have two graphics cards—1070 and 970—and a Ryzen 3700X. My concern is whether running each screen on its respective card would affect performance, especially FPS in games. Also, what should I consider before trying this? Thanks.
Yes, it will function properly and each task is limited to its own responsibilities (only processes GPU loads visible on the connected display). However, using two high-end GPUs isn't necessary. Simply connect both to a single GPU, which keeps performance effects low.
I believed combining everything on one GPU would be excessive. Appreciate everyone's assistance.
Consider it this way, the first PC you owned had a monitor, and it probably handled basic tasks fine. Back then, graphics cards were much simpler—today’s are powerful. Desktop performance has improved significantly compared to those early days. While modern systems handle more than just basic browsing, a GPU today is far more capable than it was in the late 90s.
I understand you're okay with complex calculations, but this doubles the GPU workload. Since my first system was Win98SE, the display resolution increased significantly. Your observation is correct. Thank you for your assistance!
