you need a space for everyday needs. add two extra SSDs to enable dual window use, Linux compatibility for study, work, and school. you want both operating systems on one machine—no need for a server, no gaming focus, just basic browsing, YouTube videos, forum posts, art sites, and office tasks. your system runs at 6700k with 32 or 16GB RAM, and you’re not using heavy video editing or Microsoft Office.

Red Hat offers strong performance though it isn't free. Fedora serves as the free alternative. openSUSE is also highly recommended. Steer clear of Ubuntu; Canonical has begun monitoring its users: http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/ubuntu-spyware.en.html

FreeBSD isn't Linux, but I'd choose Linux Mint instead.
