You may be able to boost performance by adjusting the base clock to around 104-105mhz from the standard 100mhz, though this usually requires a Z-series motherboard like Z97. i3 processors generally aren't suitable for overclocking, whereas models such as i5 4670k, 4690k or i7 4770k/4790k work well with a Z97 board.

You could potentially increase its speed using the base clock by setting it to around 104-105mhz instead of the standard 100mhz, though you might need a Z series board like Z97. i3 processors usually can't be overclocked, but for that purpose, consider an i5 4670k, 4690k or i7 4770k/4790k paired with a Z97 motherboard. I have an H81 motherboard and the stock cooler.
