I've been facing random BSODs and PC freezes for over a year. While troubleshooting, I noticed that turning off CPU core count from 6 to 2 caused the issue. Before that, I couldn't consistently reproduce the problem. Could you confirm if this behavior is unique to my system? My specs are: R5 processor, 3600 MHz, 16GB RAM, RTX 2060, 650W PSU.
You haven't verified the event viewer status following the BSOD incident.
I've previously turned off cores on a 3600 to test and didn't encounter any issues. This alone doesn't seem to be the cause. Crashes are a different issue. Using that CPU generation, I've faced two problems: RAM stability isn't what it appears, or the motherboard power delivery is weak. If you're using XMP RAM, consider disabling it for testing. For power delivery, adjusting the +50mV voltage offset might help. It worked on one machine I tested.
I verified the BSOD codes are 1000007e, 162, 1e, 1, a, e4. Even though I kept the CPU core enabled, I still encountered BSOD with codes 144, Live Kernel event, and memory issues.
Your system is current with all drivers installed. Are the XMP settings turned on or off?
I've checked everything online—disabling XMP, reinstalling Windows, updating drivers, even updating BIOS. It seems like the problem might be with the hardware itself, possibly the motherboard, but it could also involve the GPU or CPU. I'm not sure which part is causing the issues.
