I just realized that my BIOS had a performance mode, so I turned it on and the CPU voltage automatically adjusted to stay around 1.279 volts. When I rebooted, my screen showed an "overclock05%" message. This changed my frequency from 3.9 GHz up to 4.1 GHz. Since I don't really want to go into overclocking mode, but the benefits seem good, is this safe for my computer? Or should I just leave things at default optimized settings because fan noise doesn't bother me and my temps were fine when they started with it? My hardware setup includes: Asus Crosshair VIII Hero (WIFI) Ryzen 7 3800x RTX 2080 Super Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB
You're only messing with your Ryzen by using PBO when it's already working really well. If you want more speed or power, don't need those settings. Just use what comes out of the box for now.
Why don't you crank up your CPU when it can handle more than you think? It's super simple, takes a few taps on the keyboard, and makes everything faster for less money.
