Trying to identify why the CPU stays under 10W in Linux (ROG Flow Z13)
I've been experimenting with Linux on my Flow Z13 again, thinking the throttling problem was resolved in recent kernel updates. However, it seems unchanged. The CPU (12900H on my machine but found on all 12500H-13900H models) is stuck around 10W/1GHz, limited by current—likely related to Intel DPTF/DTT. I've tried various fixes including older kernels, disabling intel_pstate, adjusting performance mode/governor, BIOS updates, etc. My suspicion points to the DPTF ACPI uuids, which are a hot topic for ultrabooks but appear similar here. On the Z13 there aren't any available UUIDs. /sys/bus/platform/devices/INTC1041:00/uuids/available_uuids is UNKNOWN and /sys/bus/platform/devices/INTC1041:00/uuids/current_uuid is INVALID. From what I understand, the available IDs can't be changed and seem fixed in firmware—possibly different for Windows vs Linux? If anyone has more insight would be great. I've also reached out to ASUS, but they don't have contact info and the chat isn't working. Any guidance on reporting UEFI/Firmware issues would be really helpful.
Did you set up throttled and then remove thermald? Using them together could lead to problems. I recall a similar situation with my old thinkpad, and throttled helped resolve it.
Absolutely, the outcome remains consistent regardless of temperature or throttling.
