Can you slide that slider all the way to the right inside MSI Afterburner when trying to make your graphics card run faster? Will this hurt how long the card lasts if it runs too hot?

Turning up the power limit slider won't help because the card doesn't actually need extra power right now. The system just won't draw more electricity than what's needed.

Putting the voltage slider back left didn't work much, so I guess it doesn't matter how much core cock I'm adding anyway. Thanks though!

Turning the power limit slider up won't help if your card isn't asking for more power just to reach its target speed (core clock). Your card only pulls extra power when it actually needs it, not just because you turned a dial that doesn't do anything useful.
