Trying to boost my Q9550 using a tape drive
Hello, I own a Dell OptiPlex 780 with a motherboard model 0C27VV. I tried overclocking my Q9550 using electrical tape. My first try was placing the tape on the 2nd and 3rd pin under the clip, I followed this thread: https://forums. It didn't work. When I turned on my PC it displayed 2 3 4 lights and the power button was amber. My second attempt followed a similar tutorial at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/show...00-pin-mod, but I repeated the same steps without success. My third attempt used this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rsFVg3s3G0, which booted up but didn't improve performance. So what's going wrong? I followed exactly the same steps for all three, yet it still doesn't work on my OptiPlex 780.
Your motherboard uses a Q45 chipset and does not support 1600mhz FSB processors. It only supports 1333 and lower. The mod you are using raises the FSB to 1600, which your board cannot handle. I have installed it several times, but you will need a more capable board.
