I need to admit, for over a year now (since I purchased the 6950XT), I haven't even attempted a game with ray tracing enabled. My upcoming vacation makes me think about playing something new. The problem is, the RT performance of this model isn't very strong, even when using FSR. Which titles would you suggest? Apart from Cyberpunk, I tried it at launch and plan to replay it in a few years. The latest Metro title – I haven’t finished the previous ones, so I’d need to tackle the older ones first. Witcher III is complete, paying for the second one was only a couple of hours ago, but I still have to finish that one. Shadow of the Tomb Raider requires completing Rise of the Tomb Raider first, though I didn’t enjoy it even though the original (2013) remains one of my all-time favorites and a rare game I’ve played multiple times. Hmm, maybe I could try the Battlefield V campaign instead, but only the multiplayer mode…

The game is currently stable and runs smoothly at 60fps, giving you a good chance to play it despite the limitations.

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition with full resolution achieved using AMD Fluid Motion Frame optimizations. I tested it at 3840x1080 on a previous system (Nitro+ RX 6900 XT, R9 5900X, 32GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro) and it maintained 30+ to over 60fps. With updated AMD drivers, an RX 6950XT seems to perform significantly better now. I’m currently running ME EE (Sam’s Story) with maximum settings on an AMD R7 5700X3D, MERC310 RX 7900 XTX, 32GB RAM, and Windows 11 Pro, consistently reaching high frame rates—over 200fps with AFMF enabled. The EX 7000 series excels at lower resolutions, but AFMF suggests the RX 6800/6900 series could still deliver solid performance even at 1440P.

I gave it a try with RT on the RX 7600. No FSR or frame generation used, and the game ran smoothly overall. Performance dips a bit during high-intensity sections, but most parts handled well.

Black Myth: Wukong is an upcoming Souls-Like action-RPG running on Unreal Engine 5 and with all the latest bells and whistles like full ray tracing, FSR3 upscaling and frame generation, etc. If you want to know how your PC would perform, you can download the benchmark tool on Steam for free before you buy it. I think the game releases next week. I made another thread earlier talking about the game and performance if you want some rough impressions: But if you haven't played it already, Elden Ring, which was already recommended, is absolutley worth it. Imo it's the best game that has been released in the last 10 years. It easily offers 100-150 hours of playtime on your first playthrough, depending on how experienced you are with souls-likes. The DLC adds another 50 hours to that. This game alone could last through your whole vacation. But it's worth to note that Elden Ring with ray tracing is VERY hard to run, because it doesn't have any upscaling to crutch on. Even my 4080 can't reliably deliver 4K 60FPS with RT at medium. If you're playing at lower resolutions, you might have a shot. But even without RT, the game is fantastic. There is a paid mod that enabled FSR and DLSS upscaling and frame gen for Elden Ring, but I tried it out and it's implementation isn't perfect. It also doesn't allow online-play, so I don't use it personally.

I really enjoy the WoW shadow effects in ray tracing, but I don’t suggest the game itself—I just appreciate the visuals.

Since its launch, the game has undergone major updates reshaping most of its systems and introducing an impressive DLC. It feels like a completely new experience now. I wouldn’t extend my playtime much further if I were you. Several mods have also improved ray tracing performance enough for some AMD graphics cards to run smoothly while maintaining solid frame rates. (Check out "Cyberpunk Ultra Plus" on Nexusmods.com) An enhanced edition is available for free with the original Exodus; it offers superior visuals and expanded ray tracing capabilities, including HDR, latest ray tracing tools, and upscaling features. However, it relies on DLSS frame generation, which may affect AMD GPUs using ray tracing. Overall, the game remains a standout, offering an engaging story even if you haven’t played previous titles or read related material. Ray tracing has definitely raised the visual standard, though some found the shadow quality lacking compared to rasterized versions.

Don't waste time; you're not missing much. If you must, try Ratchet and Clan: Rift Apart or CP 2077.
