This morning my computer started up without power to my external devices and no display output, which isn’t ideal for a morning setup. After some checks, I realized that reconnecting the PSU cables to the GPU resolved the issue. My concerns are: does this mean my GPU is no longer working? (it has already been returned for repair due to a defective memory module) And anyone have any advice or hope I can avoid purchasing a new GPU now? I was hoping to wait until the 4000 series is available.
It might have been a simple loose connection that plugging back in fixed it. You may not require a new GPU after all.
I’m hoping so, but I need to reprogram it each time I want to start up. The fans begin turning, the LEDs light up, but that’s roughly it—no signals from the motherboard or anything else. I can shut it down by pressing the power button briefly, implying it hasn’t fully booted yet.
I don't have that information. Could you provide the details or check your device documentation?
Inspect each cable and GPU pin carefully to confirm none are pushed back into the connectors.
They appear good, maintaining their position and depth evenly.
What about the PSU side as well? Do you have a different PCIe cable ready to try? Maybe I can lend one if needed.
