In short, I purchased a UPS, connected it to my TrueNAS CORE Server, managed to locate the correct USB port and drive, but the device isn’t staying linked or I’m receiving this warning message in the console. I attempted to seek help on the TrueNAS community site, but no one responded. Since Linux isn’t my primary OS, I wanted to ensure proper setup by installing a battery backup (Cyber Power CP1350) and adjusting configurations. I’m hoping someone can assist me in resolving this issue so it works reliably. The exact error shown is: “UPS [ups@localhost:3493]: connect failed: Connection failure: Connection refused.”

It looks like your configuration files may be problematic, possibly due to an incorrect password or username. You might need to explore the complexities of NUT settings. A few years ago, I struggled with setting up Ubuntu and faced issues with unstable USB connections on Cyber Power UPS devices. Time can be costly, so I switched to Eaton UPSes with Network Modules instead. For help, you could look into FreeBSD recipes for using CyberPower UPSes under NUT, as the configuration requirements are similar to those used by TrueNAS Core.

I grasp your explanation, but I remain wary of disrupting the installation since Linux isn't foolproof and data storage is involved. My main concern is ensuring my UPS communicates with the server. In the worst scenario, I might just disconnect the USB cable and power down the server manually if needed. I suppose taking a server snapshot could provide some reassurance. EDIT: Also, it seems you should keep the "username and password" set to default as indicated by the question mark when I clicked it. Updated January 20, 2024 by _Grid21
