Troubleshooting pin setup during Windows 11 installation for a new laptop
I just got my new laptop and normally I finish the Windows setup locally without needing an internet connection. This time it’s different—I can’t skip any steps, I need to connect to a network or I can’t move forward. Once I plug in the Ethernet cable, I’m prompted to log in with a Microsoft account. Everything seems fine so far. Then I reach the pin creation screen, and I have no choice but to click "Create Pin." The loading spinner keeps spinning endlessly. After some research and troubleshooting, it suggests disconnecting all network connections, turning off the router, and shutting down the computer. When I restart it again, it remembers where I left off and the issue is resolved. However, it doesn’t work when I try to bypass the pin step. It keeps looping through this process five times or more, and on the sixth attempt it shows a warning about losing connection before I can proceed. I’m stuck in this frustrating cycle with no clear solution, especially since all my troubleshooting hasn’t addressed the need for networking. Can someone help me find a way around this?
It seems your installation was corrupted and you're facing issues with the device ID. You might need to revert it back.
It's possible to achieve that, but it wouldn't be an ideal beginning for a new laptop.
Thanks for your assistance. It seems the key wasn't included in the box for reference, so we're now moving forward from here.
