Hey there! I just switched my PC into a smaller case and tried turning it on, but instead of the usual blue light, I saw an orange or amber blinking at the bottom of the motherboard. I checked Reddit without success and changed the power supply, but still no help. Anyone know what might be wrong with my Asus ROG Z270i (model 60439090144__08D2BB35-DAD0-464D-A828-754AE3B312DA.MOV)?

It seems the bottom has an RGB light while the diagnostic LEDs are on the upper right. The power supply seems to turn on and then shut off again. Consider switching to another PSU. Likely the board is fine.

I believe the orange light on the motherboard serves as a standby power indicator, as discussed in that forum thread. According to the comments, it’s meant to keep you from making changes until the LED turns off. Since it isn’t blinking, it likely points to a power issue. Given you’ve replaced the PSU, there might be a faulty cable somewhere—consider testing another outlet. I’ve also heard that the front USB panel can cause similar problems; try disconnecting it.

Nice find, the manual doesn't state anything about the power LED nor does it depict one. Here's the manual. https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LG...V2_WEB.PDF Thanks Asus. lol.

Absolutely, I noticed that too—it's quite an unusual choice to leave it out.

He attempted a power supply first. I’d put everything together from the box using just the basics and check if it starts. Maybe there’s a short inside the case.

It’s not happening because there’s no power source or the board isn’t receiving it. I attempted to jump the board but didn’t get anything. So far I’ve tried reseating RAM, checked for bent pins, used a new outlet, and switched PSUs—still no clear solution.

I was looking at the discussion there https://forums. Two users reported missing power due to bad front USB ports, so I'd agree—try simplifying the setup. If that doesn't work, switch to another motherboard.
