Troubles with upgrading from Windows 10 to 11
You might not appreciate my advice, but I’m confident it’s the more effective choice in the long run: avoid upgrading Windows 10. Wipe it clean and start fresh with Windows 11. Although it could be tempting to bypass the trouble or reinstall everything, you’ll likely encounter more problems during the transition from 10 to 11. This approach saves time and effort if you install 11 from the beginning. Good luck!
Start with a clean setup. These problems won’t disappear after the update; they’ll keep coming up and make troubleshooting difficult. A fresh installation is usually the best choice. Back up your data to another storage device. Generate a Windows 11 installation disk using the provided tool on the Microsoft site (or download the ISO file and use RUFUS to create it manually). Turn off the computer, ideally disconnecting other drives beforehand, then install Windows 11. Remember to format the partitions carefully—disconnecting drives helps prevent accidental formatting.
Consider checking the issue by using setupdiag.exe. The easiest method is to download the Windows 11 media creation tool. Visit the Windows 11 download page and get the "Create Windows 11 Installation Media" file. Select the ISO option instead of a USB drive, and follow the prompts. When the process says “burn iso file to dvd,” skip it and click “finish.” After that, double-click the ISO file from your chosen folder and run setup.exe. Choose “keep personal files and app” during installation. *REMEMBER: Always back up important data, as this update might affect your current setup.*
I understand. If you prefer not to change your PC setup, it's definitely effective to perform an in-place upgrade with an ISO.
