I’ve assembled several PCs before, but this one is quite different. I’m trying to figure out what’s going wrong and need some guidance. It’s been roughly six years since my last complete build, so I’m a bit unfamiliar with the process now. The system specs are: a Core i7 10700K, an MSI Z490 motherboard, a 1TB NVMe SSD in the main slot (black WD), two 16GB Crucial DDR4 3200MHz modules at 32GB total, a silverstone SFX-L 800W PSU, a Noctua air cooler with two fans, and a push-pull window setup. I’ve booted into Windows after installing the OS from an USB drive. After selecting the correct drive and following the prompts, it loads normally. However, when I try to shut down, I get stuck on the “Meg” splash screen of MSI without any progress or loading. The PC freezes right after shutdown. What could be causing this issue?
Ugh, that doesn’t look like the main problem... reset the CMOS, opened BIOS, cleared the drive and turned off the quick boot feature. Placed my USB Windows installer, saved the changes, restarted, installed Windows, reached the desktop, then shut down as before. Restarted after a minute and it’s still stuck on the MEG MSI splash screen. It won’t let me proceed.
No, it isn't the genuine installer. It appears to be a fake or malicious file.
It's a Windows USB from the complete edition of Windows 10 I purchased a few years back.
I’m making good headway! I began checking the hardware and removed one of the 16GB RAM sticks, leaving it in slot 2. After installing Windows and restarting, the login finally appeared. It seems the problem might be with the RAM or the MMO RAM slot. I’m leaning toward the RAM issue at this stage. I plan to remove the old RAM from my previous build to see if that resolves the matter.
