There are many factors involved. QVLs aren’t complete. The maker of RAM or the device chooses which kits they want to test for specific CPUs and motherboards. They might skip certain processors, board makers, or chipsets altogether. They often only send their most popular products and overlook others. Even being listed doesn’t ensure compatibility, since manufacturers frequently alter the dies in RAM without resubmitting for checks. In short, QVL lists are essentially worthless. On the other hand, they’re now mostly redundant. Except for ultra-fast kits, DDR4 RAM usually works with modern CPUs and chipsets regardless of speed. Still, what CPU are you looking to match this kit to? You won’t be able to pair a 4000MHz processor with most Ryzen CPUs without either slowing it down or using async with the FCLK. Running async adds a performance cost; for example, the extra 200MHz from 4000MHz versus around 3800MHz won’t make much difference. You really need either faster RAM or slower one.
Single CCD chips become simpler to get and maintain at 2K 1:1 or better. Regarding QVL being irrelevant, convey that to those with compatibility problems.
