You can simply test the stick on its own. It won't cause any damage. Single and dual channel settings turn on automatically. Following UncleWebb's advice will help you ensure the stick is in good condition.

It functions, but there seems to be an issue with the new stick I received. The trident z stick is missing its XMP profile. I'm not sure why, but even after removing the other two sticks and using just the new one along with the trident z, the problem persists. Both are GSKILL and Hynix, each with 8 gigabytes and XMP 2.0 up to 3000. I'm not sure why these conflicting issues are happening. I plan to avoid the new stick and get another RAM stick that doesn't have this problem.
