Transitioning to 13600k
Transitioning to 13600k
Hello. You're thinking about upgrading your PC around the time of the 13600K release. Wanting to know if using your existing 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL16 RAM and a Superflower LEADEX Gold II 650W setup will still perform well with the RTX 3070 on 1440p at 144Hz. Also, you're considering a Z790 motherboard and a good cooler—planning to buy more RAM later. Your questions are clear: will the new components work smoothly? And is the 650W enough for the RTX 3070 with that setup?
1. It's quite precise
2. If the same power setup is used, it's acceptable but it would be similar to what I'd consider pushing it further
Using that PSU with an RTX 3070 and 9600k since January 2021 has worked perfectly—no problems at all. The system runs quietly and efficiently. I haven’t noticed power draw exceeding 380W even when CPU and GPU are at full capacity. A 13600k GPU shouldn’t push the total to nearly 650W.
Assuming the same two-gen model works with DDR4 on a Z690 or similar motherboard, and 650W remains sufficient for full performance in 2022.
Discussing the 3070 with its spikes is the main concern. That’s likely the only real issue, though I’m not sure it’ll happen. That’s why I suggested this is probably the furthest point I can advise you.
