Transitioning from r5 3600 to 10700
Transitioning from r5 3600 to 10700
Hello everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my setup. Right now I have a 3600 CPU and am thinking about improving performance, aiming for over 100 FPS at 1400p. While I'd love a 10700k, it's hard to find nearby. A z7900 plus a 10700k would be ideal. My priority games are World War Z and F12020, especially wanting closer to 140 FPS. Boosting FPS in Borderlands 3 would be great too. Thanks for any suggestions!
It's better to hold off on switching platforms until Zen 3 is available.
Consider purchasing a budget B450 model and keeping your 3600 for now. For the board, you might want to explore options suitable for your setup.
you might need to update your board because it could become outdated, inefficient, or no longer meet your goals.
It's better to avoid purchasing anything at this time. Zen 3 is expected to be discontinued by year-end, so if your goal was to swap the board and CPU, it makes more sense to stick with your current setup and wait for the X670 with a 4600 release. This way you'll get a fresh architecture at a lower cost than an Intel upgrade and maintain future upgrade options.
Some factors came into play. I discarded the box with the stock backplate and other items because I now need them for a Corsair H100i RGB Platinum. Another point is that my desired frame rates aren’t being met in games like World War Z, F1 2020, and Borderlands 3. While I don’t think money is the only concern, I’m willing to wait for the Zen 3 platform if it would boost my performance to the level I need. My belief is that higher frame rates (100+) depend heavily on clock speed, especially on Intel systems.
This information is helpful, compatibility concerns would only arise from a BIOS update, and Zen 3 should function with the B550.
Purchased a Corsair H100i RGB Platinum to lower the temperature, but I lost the original stock backplate and board parts. The performance isn’t meeting expectations—I’m aiming for 120-140 FPS, which would make the current configuration more effective.
