I recently replaced my girlfriend's computer with a faster SSD after upgrading from a slow HDD, but faced some issues. The HDD still retains a Windows recovery partition while the SSD doesn’t. Whenever she restarts, her system offers a bootable option between the SSD and the HDD. To fully erase the HDD and avoid problems later, you’ll need to safely remove the recovery partition so the drive is clean for regular use. Since you have two other users, setting up a NAS might be a good long-term plan.

Run the Windows setup tool, select the HDD, and erase the storage device. This method is convenient because you already have the necessary materials.

Ensure you have another machine, install GParted via USB, and you’ll have full control over the task.

I discovered that disk management often resists removing backup and restore partitions on customer systems. It sometimes functions properly, but other times it refuses to proceed.

Don't rely on it much. For that, you usually switch partitions during a fresh installation. You might be right.

Which SSD was used? I performed the same migration last weekend and completed it successfully.
