Hello, I’m having trouble switching to Windows 7 because of this error. I tried searching online but got no useful results. My BIOS says the pen drive isn’t loading, even though Secure Boot is off. I have an Intel SSD with 250 GB of storage running the OS and games. Thanks for your help!

It's likely your SSD is configured as the main boot drive, meaning the computer will always search there first. After it identifies it, it stops checking, so it doesn't realize the drive is also bootable. Which motherboard are you running? You should find a button (F8, F11, F12 etc.) that lets you pick a boot device manually.

You probably need to adjust the boot sequence first. If that doesn’t work, confirm you’re beginning with the USB drive. A BIOS key will appear during startup to show you boot options (F12 on some boards, check your model). Also verify the USB stick you’re using is capable of booting. Simply transferring files won’t make it work—use the right software. Microsoft offers free tools to create bootable USB drives. You can’t launch the Windows 7 installation tool inside Windows 10.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using an Asus Z97-k and tried my USB stick to boot from the menu, but it works fine. I've tested various sticks and still have the same problem. Updated February 13, 2017 by Vishvesh Naik

Thank you for your message. I attempted to adjust the boot order on my Asus z97-k motherboard, but it didn't work. I've extracted the ISO file from WinRAR, but it seems it's not suitable for this setup.

WinRAR will only pull out the files. You must prepare the USB stick to be bootable by burning the ISO onto it. This tool can help: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software.../windows10 Other options are also available.

You can create a bootable USB using PowerISO even if Windows 10 is not fully updated. Just ensure your system meets the requirements and follow the installation steps.

The updates from Microsoft are applied consistently, requiring all users to install them unless on Enterprise plans. This includes the Anniversary update and any future creative updates. I’m trying to clarify why the Anniversary update seems to cause performance issues. This shouldn’t be happening, but it might be due to other factors affecting your system. I’m not questioning it. When I first installed the Anniversary update, my computer would crash almost every day. After a fresh reinstall using the provided link to generate a bootable ISO for Windows 10, the problem was resolved. The Anniversary update itself shouldn’t impact game performance. As for PowerISO, I’m not familiar with it. I haven’t used it before. For Linux and other operating systems, I use tools like unetbootin or Rufus.
