Hey everyone, at university we’re working on a project where we need to digitize an old college. I’m still figuring out the technical side. Our goals are: 50 smartboards with built-in CPUs, 50 separate monitors plus keyboard/mouse, one server rack (should that be sufficient?), 2 servers (is that enough?), 5 switches (10 smartboards each), 2-4 Teraflops of storage (no need to upgrade soon), 50 routers (the building is old with thick walls and spans three levels), and students and staff needing access to an online platform for submitting work. My main concern is whether we’re missing anything or if we’re on the right track. I’m not sure about the server setup or costs, so I’m trying to figure out the budget and staffing needs. This assignment is about project management—learning how real projects are organized. We picked digitalizing an old college as our topic. On Friday we submitted a draft, but I’m stuck calculating all the expenses for the setup. I’ve worked out labor and materials, but the server room details are confusing me. @VegetableStu The building is existing; some walls will need removal. The server space will be in the old paper storage area, with AC and ducting installed. The aim is to transform the college into a fully online environment using smartboards, a custom school portal, cloud services, individual student emails, and staff accounts.
