Understanding Garry's Mod as a Source project with significant modifications, and CS:GO incorporating elements from Source 2, makes me curious about transferring some binary code to Source 1. Would it break things or could we run Source 2 code on an older engine? Garry's Mod is essentially its own engine while still using Source as a foundation, but that’s not the main point. I’ll share my progress here.

It seems the latest Hammer Editor isn't included in the standard CS:GO install. However, there might be opportunities to access newer tools by moving Source 2 binaries from the /bin directory.

I could wait for the complete Source 2 release before going through the steps to port everything. For now, I believe a full port will still need some adjustments before it’s feasible. Moving the binary appears to be working so far, but it should be done on the x64 branch of Garry's Mod rather than the x86 branch. That’s all for now, cya.

It looks like the file layout has changed significantly compared to the original Source engine, making it tough to adapt the source 2 engine for Garry's Mod. I'll keep an eye out for a Source 2 SDK or similar updates.
