I'm updating the motherboard and considering moving data to the SSD. I plan to transfer everything, including the OS, to the new HDD and then check the motherboard before setting up the RAID 0 on the new card. Microsoft won't complain as long as at least one part matches.

Windows licenses are linked to the motherboard. Your operating system will probably be inactive after swapping the motherboard, and if you have a retail license, it should be a straightforward reactivation. With an OEM license, you may need to contact Microsoft directly. There are also registry issues that can arise when an OS is installed on an SSD and moved to an HDD, affecting things like scheduled defrags. It’s usually best to perform a clean installation.

I modified this motherboard once before it was originally an HP PC. After the change, I got promoted to linking it with my new card and later added an SSD, doing a clean setup which worked. I was considering a full reinstall but thought it would be better to just transfer the OS onto the new board first, since I need to reset the RAID setup and don’t want extra costs on something I already own.
