I own a 512 GB Sandisk Ultra 3D SSD purchased about two years ago. It functions adequately, but I’ve noticed slow data transfers when moving files between drives—around 2-3 MB/s regardless of file size. Crystal Disk Mark reports typical performance, and accessing files locally works perfectly. Writing operations exceed 400 MB/s without issues, and copying data from another drive also succeeds. Even transferring from the Sandisk drive to another works at similar speeds. It seems this particular drive isn’t responding well to data extraction. I’ve tried all troubleshooting steps and feel I’ve done everything possible.

You're trying to link it to your computer using either SATA or USB connection. It seems like this drive might be struggling, possibly due to hardware issues or faulty cables, and you're wondering if replacing the drive or checking its connections could help. Sometimes SSDs with DRAM can experience performance drops, which might affect speed.

Thank you for your prompt response. The file is attached via Sata III and appears to have 500 MB of DRAM. Considering the SSD benchmarks and its ability to be written to, I’m sure the port and cable are in good condition. I’m using only about 139 GB of the drive. When accessing files, it’s slightly slower than expected, but everything remains intact. If I replace the files with new ones and try accessing them, they function normally and quickly. Would relocating all data to another SSD, erasing the drive, and reinserting it work as a solution?

Confirming your request: Are you experiencing a problem when moving a file from your 512 GB Sandisk Ultra 3D SSD to another storage device? Does everything function properly when downloading, uploading, or using within the SSD itself? If so, the issue likely lies with the destination drive, not the SSD. Check the Task Manager to verify if the drive is operating at full capacity.

Writing from another source to the target drive is functioning properly. This issue isn't related to an external SSD; the same problem occurs with other SSDs. It seems the SSD might have overlooked previous files, but new data reads correctly. I'm currently transferring all my information to the external SSD and then clearing the storage, in hopes it will operate normally again.
