Transfer the Windows 10 Pro setup to another computer.
I would like to transfer an existing Windows 10 Pro 64-bit fully activated image between PCs. Usually this is straightforward—just purchase a license for the new machine and enter the activation code afterward. But my case differs: the target PC already has a fully activated license on its motherboard, and I don’t know which code matches it. After moving the image, Windows stopped being active but won’t let me activate it. It seems the system is still using the old activation key, which isn’t working. I need a method to remove that key and have it automatically recognize the correct one for the new hardware. This is the same Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OS. Is this achievable?
It would be simpler to perform a complete Windows reinstall. This would likely fix your activation problems and eliminate issues such as registry conflicts, performance drops, and system instability that come with transferring Windows between devices.
I'm not familiar with moving just an image. This could be leading to problems. You might want to disable the tied license and, when activated again, choose a different key or log in with your MS account. Also, consider transferring the entire drive if necessary.
