They're correct. You need to remove the local files via Steam and reinstall them. This time, choose your SSD drive for the installation instead of the usual HDD.

It's incorrect, but you can set up "Junction points" to make Steam believe a game remains in its original place while it's actually moved elsewhere. A tool called Steam Mover can help with this process: http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover. The user should move files to the SSD rather than just copying them, and troubleshooting may be needed afterward.

Sure thing. All along I was just removing and saving files to move them to a different place, which takes under three minutes per game. Now I’m actually picking up something new.

You can simply save your games and reinstall them on the SSD. It may be a little time-consuming for larger titles, but you can let it operate in the background while enjoying cat photos or other activities.
