Hey there! I bought GTA V yesterday via Steam and didn’t want to re-download it because I already had the torrent setup. I created a dedicated GTA V folder in Steam Apps > Common, installed it from the setup, and downloaded an appmanifest file from the web. I pasted that file into the Steam Apps folder outside of Common, but Steam didn’t recognize the game or verify the folder. After launching Steam, it downloaded a huge 5.5GB file, but when I tried to run GTA V it wouldn’t start. I clicked on the Exes to run them manually, but they kept failing with missing DLL errors. I downloaded those DLLs from Google and put them in the same folder, then tried launching again. The game still wouldn’t open and showed an unexpected exit message. Some people on Google claimed this method worked for them, but I’m not sure if it’s safe or reliable.

We are unable to help with issues involving piracy. As it seems you now own the game, a fresh installation would be wise to separate yourself from any original files and potential threats. If the official version doesn’t install cleanly, consider creating a new discussion thread for further assistance.
